Troubleshooting

Blank page

The blank page is a nightmare and can happen. Regarding what you were doing, you can have different option to recovery your website:

I was updating Plugins: If you have an error, and impossible to access your dashboard anymore, you have only one option.

    • Open FileZilla, connect to your server.
    • Go to your WordPress files folder and open the “Wp-Content” Folder. Now, you will have a folder named “Plugins”.
    • Rename it “Plugins1” and validate.
    • Refresh your website, you may have access again
    • Rename again “Plugins1” per “Plugins” and validate.
    • All of your Plugins are now deactivated. Found the guilty one(s), and manage the situation with support.

I was changing code in function.php or another file function :

    • Open FileZilla, connect to your server.
    • Follow the path to the file you just make the modification
    • Change back
    • Send the file again
    • Refresh your website, you may have access again.

I was updating/changing a template :

    • Open FileZilla, connect to your server.
    • Go to Wp-content/themes
    • Change the name of the template you were updating or activating
    • Refresh your website
    • Change again the name of the server. You may have access again!

  • Log onto your server via FTP
  • Navigate to the main directory of your WordPress installation
  • Delete the Maintenance file
  • Check if your website is back up again
  • Restart the update

My modifications are not showing
